PCI is seeking an experienced Prefabrication Design Engineer for its Indianapolis Interior operations based in Carmel, IN. This individual may on occasion work in our Anderson, IN facility, with most of the time in the Carmel office. This individual will be responsible for the following duties:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate in developing comprehensive project plans that outline the scope, schedule, and resources required for prefab panel fabrication, shipping, and installation.
- Review complete set of drawings and engineered shop drawings to develop buildable panel drawings in Revit (Fabrication & Install Drawings).
- Assist in design and development of prefabrication process on each project. Provide valuable insights to help with the manufacturing and installation in the field.
- Develop new construction details, find new product solutions, and develop new product solutions.
- Coordinate with Operations, Preconstruction, Prefab Team, and Fabrication Facility to ensure accurate and timely production of shop drawings, submittals, and other relevant documentation.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to facilitate timely material orders and deliveries, ensuring materials are available for panel fabrication.
Prefabrication:
- Ensure that prefab panels are produced according to project specifications, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
- Report on innovations, best practices, lessons learned, and changes that could possibly be made to improve safety, quality, and productivity across our branch.
Design Technology:
- Design Interior and Exterior Walls, including framing, Ceiling and Soffit Framing, Acoustical Ceilings, Specialty Panels, Raised Access Floor, Clean Room Walls, Clean Room Ceilings, Unistrut, No Fly Zones and other specialty scopes to required Level of Development using Revit and other add-ins.
- Understanding of multi-trade collaboration (i.e. BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
- Review and coordinate with point cloud files and building scanners.
- Familiarity with Trimble Layout Solutions.
- Knowledge with clash detection (i.e. Navisworks, Revizto)
- Dynamo and Revit API understanding is not required but a great asset.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Provide regular project updates to ensure all parties are informed about project progress, potential issues, and solutions.
- Actively participate in BIM coordination and design meetings.
- Collaborate with site install crews to develop additional details and sections for issues that arise on site.
- Escalate any issues to the BIM Coordinator and Design or Operations Team.
- Ensure all elements of the model are fully coordinated within PCI’s scope.
- QC model against project documents for discrepancies.
Problem-Solving and Risk Management:
- Proactively identify potential project risks and issues related to fabrication, shipping, or installation, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including correspondence, documentation, and change orders.
- Prepare and distribute regular progress reports, highlighting milestones achieved and areas requiring attention.
- Create and maintain project-specific content to ensure they are consistently aligned with instructions, guidelines, in-house standards, and the project’s BIM standards.
Safety Leadership:
- Champion safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring that all prefab processes, shipping, and installations adhere to the highest safety standards.
Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze project outcomes to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices for future projects.
- Drive to innovate and streamline processes and products.
Customer Relations:
- Maintain positive customer relationships by addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.

This position will require working with the Manager, Corporate Safety department, and other Regional Safety Managers to provide leadership and direction on all Safety matters for assigned operations, branches and departments.
