Job Description

PCG is seeking an entry-level Branch Safety Engineer for its ISS (Industrial and Specialty Services) safety operations based in Seattle, WA. This individual will to report to the Branch Safety Supervisor and contribute to the application and administration of established corporate safety programs. Job responsibilities include:

  • Implementation and administration of company accident prevention plan, policies and procedures.
  • Provide safety and technical expertise and support to the branch.
  • Promote safety, safe work practices and behaviors.
  • Assist in investigation of work-related injuries, illnesses and near-miss incidents; assist to ensure corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence of hazardous conditions or behaviors.
  • Review all accidents and investigation reports.
  • Assist project foremen to identify, correct or mitigate routine and non-routine safety and health hazards associated with the performance of their work.
  • When necessary, counsel and coach workers to gain voluntary compliance with company and customer accident prevention plan, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the branch safety committee.
  • Provide safety resources including employee training, expertise and guidance, and assist in ensuring that regulatory compliance is maintained with respect to safety, industrial hygiene and environmental protection.
  • Assist in the identification, anticipation, and evaluation of potential safety and health hazards.
  • Conduct job site inspections and periodic audits to establish and evaluate the company’s current level of compliance and recommend changes to provide improvement.
  • Assist in investigation and evaluation of injuries and illnesses for the purposes of OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Distribute safety-related publications, information and reports.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Construction Management, Construction Engineering or comparable work experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Must be able to effectively communicate complex information to employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DOT and other relevant regulations and construction safety standards
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • BCSP (CHST, ASP, CSP) or credentials a plus
  • Willing to travel the Puget Sound region (Bellingham to Centralia with occasional travel elsewhere)
  • OSHA Certification is a plus
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in team environment
  • Work well under pressure and deadline
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Must have a great attitude and be team oriented.
